RM of Parkdale’s story
The Rural Municipality of Parkdale No. 498 incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913. It lies in west-central Saskatchewan, and its office is in the village of Glaslyn, which the RM surrounds.
Over the years the municipality has come to include a scattering of communities and localities. Fairholme is an organized hamlet, and Evergreen Acres, Helen Lake, Longhope, Midnight Lake, Minnehaha, Park Bluff, Robinhood and Speedwell are listed as localities. More recently, on January 1, 2020, the organized hamlets of Turtle Lake Lodge and Indian Point – Golden Sands joined together to become the resort village of Turtle View.
Today the RM is known for its lakes and recreation areas, including Little Loon Lake and its regional park, Turtle Lake, and the Turtle Lake and Helene Lake recreation sites. A Canadian Pacific Railway line that once ran through the area has been abandoned, while Highways 3, 4 and 794 and the Glaslyn Airport serve the area now.
